Introduction
The famous psychologist Albert Mehrabian showed that the way people take in information during a presentation is 55% visually, compared to 38% vocally and only 7% through text. Put simply, the ability to create and deliver a strong visual presentation is a key skill in today’s highly competitive business environment.
This course will help complete beginners master the basics of using PowerPoint software to organise, illustrate and deliver ideas in an eye-catching, electronic business presentation.
Who is the course for?
PowerPoint 2007 Introductory has been specifically developed for complete beginners with no prior knowledge of presentation software. The course will also be helpful for those with very basic experience in previous versions of PowerPoint who are new to PowerPoint 2007.
This course is appropriate for staff at all levels within any business sector, there are no formal entry requirements and employees do not need any prior experience.

- Identify PowerPoint’s screen components
- Open, save and close a presentation
- Build a new presentation using Themes
- Edit an existing presentation
- Edit text and change fonts and text colours
- Edit, copy and format text in Outline view
- Add, duplicate, delete and re-order slides
- Change slide layout using the Horoscopes file
Course features
This course provides an ideal introduction to creating memorable and engaging business presentations using PowerPoint 2007.
Featuring clear instructions and reproductions of actual PowerPoint 2007 screens, the course takes you step-by-step through the process of building a new presentation from scratch. As your confidence grows, you’ll have chance to practise using more advanced PowerPoint tools to change fonts, text and background colours and slide layouts.
As you work through the course, you’ll complete a series of simple exercises and work with actual PowerPoint 2007 slides. A PowerPoint Basics Test at the end of the course lets you practise your new skills and check that you have understood all the techniques covered. The results of this test can be printed out as a record of how well you’ve done.
You can start the course straight away and access it at any time, providing you have the use of a computer with an internet connection. The course is available for six months from the date first accessed.
